As you know, we often have short term missionary nurses visit our station to work with Kim. It has been amazing to us how God has sent specially gifted nurses to work with some of the special needs children that we deal with. Recently a group of nurses visited from Dallas, TX. One was a child-life specialist. God used this gifted young woman to help us solve a mystery with one of the babies we are caring for.
We had a baby at our House of Hope (where we temporarily foster infants whose mothers have passed away or have special needs) who was not gaining weight. All the medical tests we ran came back negative, but we knew something was wrong with this little one. So we prayed daily for this baby, that God would guide us in her care and help us discover the key to her lack of weight gain.
The very day the child-life specialist arrived at Langano she solved the mystery. This particular baby had difficulty swallowing any liquid nourishment, but if liquids were thickened, she could manage them well. Since we have been able to identify the problem and have taken the necessary steps to thicken the baby’s formula, this little one has been gaining weight steadily. She has lost the furrow of discontent on her brow, she smiles regularly and is now playing like a contented baby.
Don’t we serve an amazing God Who loves to answer the prayers of the saints!
