Baffled at what Jacob was saying on the floor beside the table where we were working, we both looked down to see what he was doing. Jacob was calling out, “Help me, O Lord, help me, O Lord!” as he struggled to connect two of his toy train cars so as to pull them around on an imaginary track!
We had been trying to teach Jacob to ask Jesus for help when he needs something, but this time Jacob delivered to us a very poignant reminder of what our disposition ought to be in the times when life becomes frustrating and challenging and our efforts don’t seem to be working.
This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. Psalm 34:6
