Connect

Plugged In...Together

Our Creator designed us to enjoy radiant relationships -- beginning with God Himself, extending to our family, with those of shared faith, and to the world around us. To have relationship, you first need to be connected -- both by communication and in perspective. Jesus commanded his followers to walk in community -- a connected congregation of believers who shared their lives and experiences together. He also commanded His followers to reach out to the world around them with the Good News of the Kingdom of God, and to make new disciples who would then walk in that same community connectedness. Jesus stated His radiant connection command by saying,

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

This familiar verse provides the primary man date for world Mission. In it Jesus reveals two key points about how He intends it to happen. First, the task can not be completed without empowerment and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Second, it implies a radiating expansion which requires "mission" to be defined not only by the church reaching the "end of the earth", but also by the church modeling the missional calling in its own "Jerusalem" -- in your town or your city, in your own neighborhood.
